What is an Athletic Therapist?

An Athletic Therapists is devoted to the health care of physically active individuals. A Certified Athletic Therapist must have fulfilled the academic and practical requirements as required by the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association. Certified members have successfully completed comprehensive theory and practical exams.


The Scope of Practice includes the assessment, prevention, immediate care, and reconditioning of Musculoskeletal injuries.


Athletic Therapy utilizes manual techniques, therapeutic modalities (ex. ultrasound, tens, etc.) and physical reconditioning in order to promote optimal healing. Athletic Therapy is a total service designed to maximize the performance and health of an active individual.
