Robyn Tessaro is the dedicated owner and inspiration behind Pura Vida Health Centre. In 2008, her ambition to help others led her to open Pura Vida Health Centre. Robyn is very proud to state that in the first two years of business Pura Vida Health Centre more than doubled in size based on the clientele and has been growing ever since. Robyn relies primarily on word of mouth referrals for 90% of her clientele growth; however, she believes strongly in working with a great team of therapists who can combine their skills and hone in on achieving results for each client’s specific needs.
As an osteopathic manual practitioner and a registered massage therapist with over ten years of experience, she integrates a variety of treatment techniques in her practice including: visceral manipulation, craniosacral techniques, muscle energy work, myofascial release, Swedish massage, and joint play. She has experience treating during pregnancy, infants and children of all ages. Robyn has studied with the most well respected osteopath’s for infant care in North America. Robyn conducted a research study on the effect osteopathy has on a colicky infant. The results were very positive; each child that participated in the study had improvements in one or more of the following: less gas, less pain while passing gas, crying a lot, difficulty soothing himself, and many more . Robyn conducted a thesis on three-dimensional motion in the lumbar spine and the effects of osteopathic treatment. Her thesis was presented to an international jury and it was recognized with an invitation to partake in a conference in Germany. Robyn treats people of any age, from newborn to elderly. She enjoys working with a variety of people and conditions.
Here is a brief list of conditions that Robyn treats the most often: low back pain, neck pain, prenatal support, infant care, TMJ dysfunction, headaches/migranes, digestive issues, facial pain, female pelvic pain or dysfunction, vertigo, foot care, colic, birth trauma, and scar tissue.
Robyn’s passion is her ambition, driven by her energy. She believes in carrying this ambition into everything she does, and has integrated herself enthusiastically into the Port Credit community, doing both charity work and participating in events such as the 24 hour spin-a-thon, the Southside Shuffle, KidsCAN, and other various demonstrations in local businesses with the Pura Vida team.
Robyn has recently assisted teaching at the Canadian College of Osteopathy. She enjoys being in the classroom environment and giving back to the manual osteopathic students
